Cement plant built with Chinese investors starts work in Mozambique

A US$19-million cement plant backed by Zhonggang Construction Group has begun operating in the Mozambican city of Pemba, JS China reports.

The news website, run by the government of the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, says Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi attended Friday’s ceremonial opening of the factory.

The report says the factory is expected to produce 25,000 tonnes of cement annually, worth more than 200 million yuan (US$29.51 million).

Zhonggang Construction says the plant employs about 200 Mozambicans, offering training and employment, JS China says.
