Chairman of Chinese legislature to visit Mozambique

China’s National People’s Congress Chairman Li Zhanshu will visit Mozambique this month, the China Daily reports.

The state-owned newspaper says a tour of Africa by the newly elected chairman of the Chinese legislature will also take him to Ethiopia and Namibia this month.

The report says the tour, beginning in Ethiopia on 9 May, “is expected to focus on non-political issues”.

The tour of foreign countries will be the first by a senior Chinese official since the annual meeting of the National People’s Congress in March, the China Daily says.
