China-Africa Development Fund to visit Cape Verde from Sunday

Representatives from the China-Africa Development Fund will start on Sunday a visit to Cape Verde, local newspaper A Nação reported this week.

The purpose of the trip is to explore new investment opportunities in the African nation, added the news outlet.

The tour programme includes an introduction, on May 31, to what has been termed an integrated leisure entertainment project in Santa Maria Islet, in Praia. Gaming services company Macau Legend Development – co-chaired by Macau businessman David Chow – is developing the 250-million euros (US$279.7-million) resort through two local subsidiaries. The resort will include a casino.

After that presentation, business people from Cape Verde will be given an opportunity to present their projects to the representatives of the China-Africa Development Fund and to discuss potential co-operation, the newspaper said.

The China-Africa Development Fund was established in June 2007. It has since invested a total of nearly US$20 billion in 84 projects in 36 African countries, said in April the fund’s Vice President, Lu Qingcheng.
