The Portuguese automobile industry association, ACAP, has announced that China bought 2.8 percent of the motor vehicles its members exported in the first 11 months of this year, meaning it was their biggest market in Asia.
However, a written announcement issued by ACAP fails to say how many vehicles its members exported in the first 11 months.
Asia was the second-biggest market for exports by members of the association after Europe, which bought nine-tenths, ACAP says.
Lusa reported in May that a cut in the Chinese import tariff on vehicles the following July might increase exports of Portuguese-made cars to China.
Portuguese exports of motor vehicles and parts to China were worth €288 million (about US$338.69 million) last year, or 34.2 percent of the value of all Portuguese exports to China, the Portuguese news agency said at the time.
