Of the new investment that Angola has been promised in the past 12 months, US$175 million worth was promised by Chinese investors, more than by any other kind of foreign investor, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Angolan Investment and Export Promotion Agency Chairman Licínio Vaz Contreiras as saying the Chinese investors are putting their money into 15 private projects.
Mr Contreiras said investors of all kinds had promised to put US$1.5 billion into 155 private projects in Angola in the past 12 months, and that 64 of the projects were purely Angolan endeavours.
He said the investors had already stumped up US$778 million of the money promised, and that work had begun on about 38 of the projects.
Since the law was reformed last year, investors in Angola have shown most interest in putting their money into manufacturing, commerce, services and farming, Lusa quotes Mr Contreiras as saying.
