China, Brazil agree to make bilateral trade easier

Chinese and Brazilian officials agreed on Thursday to take measures to facilitate and increase high value-added trade between their countries, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency says they did so at a meeting in Beijing of the China-Brazil High-Level Co-ordination and Co-operation Committee, at which Chinese Vice-president Wang Qishan and Brazilian Vice-president Hamilton Mourão served as co-chairmen.

The report says the officials also agreed to take measures to facilitate and increase investments in each other’s country in mining, infrastructure, logistics, farming, finance, scientific research and innovation, information technology, and satellites.

China and Brazil should use the committee to usher in a new era in Sino-Brazilian relations, with more dynamic exchanges in more fields, the report quotes Mr Wang as saying.

Brazil hopes to increase the quantity and variety of its exports to China, is amenable to closer Sino-Brazilian consultation and co-operation, and is willing to mesh its plans for development with the Chinese-led Belt and Road initiative, Xinhua quotes Mr Mourão as saying.
