China, Brazil can work together through regional bloc, official says

Brazilian Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs Marcos Galvão has said his country and China can co-operate through the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, or CELAC, as well as all the other channels they have for working together, Reuters reports.

The news agency says Mr Galvão was speaking in Chile at the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of representatives of China and CELAC members.

The report quotes Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi as telling the conference: “China will always stay committed to the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening up, and stands ready to share development dividends with all countries.”

Mr Wang urged the 33 members of CELAC to play a part in the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, joining China in building what he called “logistic, electricity and information pathways”.
