China Brazil’s biggest customer in first two-thirds of 2019

Official data indicate that China bought 29 percent of Brazilian exports in the first eight months of this year, remaining the biggest foreign market for Brazilian merchandise, the China News Service reports.

The Chinese state-run news agency, citing Brazilian official data, says the value of Brazilian exports was US$148.85 billion in the first eight months, 5.7 percent less than in the corresponding period last year, and that China bought US$43.23 billion worth, the United States US$19.7 billion worth and Argentina US$6.78 billion worth.

The report says China was also the main source of Brazilian imports in the first eight months of this year, selling Brazil US$24.13 billion worth of merchandise.

The value of Brazilian imports from all sources was US$117.09 billion in the first eight months, 3.4 percent less than in the corresponding period last year.
