Mainland China has the capacity to import more refrigerated beef from Brazilian suppliers, says Liège Nogueira, the executive director of the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries.
Ms Nogueira’s comments were reported by Xinhua on Tuesday ahead of a visit from Chinese officials to cold storage plants in Brazil beginning this weekend.
“China is a great partner whose expectations we want to meet,” the government-run news agency reported Ms Nogueira as saying. She added that the six plants will meet rigorous sanitary standards.
Ms Nogueira hopes President-elect Jair Bolsonaro will continue expanding trade ties with China after he takes office on January 1.
