China donates technology to Cape Verde media sector

China has donated computers and other digital technology to Cape Verde worth 60 million escudos (US$614,754), the Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana reported.

The equipment will be distributed to public and private sector media outlets, as well as to tertiary education institutions that offer journalism programmes, the newspaper added.

The ceremony marking the delivery of the equipment was held at the Government Palace, in the Cape Verdean capital, Praia. The donation follows an agreement between the two governments concluded in October 2015. The offer includes 100 cameras, 100 audio recorders, 250 desktop computers, 200 laptop computers, 50 external hard disks, 80 laser printers, 50 uninterruptible power supply units, known as ‘UPS’s’ , 60 scanners, 30 copiers, 20 televisions, 20 mobile phones and 10 computer tablets, the report said.
