China exports rise for 7th consecutive month

China’s exports grew 9 percent year-on-year in September, in yuan terms, an acceleration from the 6.9 percent gain in August, data released by the General Administration of Customs shows. China’s exports have now grown for seven consecutive months.

Meanwhile, imports in September expanded 19.5 percent in yuan terms from a year ago, compared to a 14.4 percent rise in July.

The world’s second biggest economy recorded a trade surplus of 193 billion yuans (US$29,3 billion).

“Going forward, sequential momentum in real exports should remain modest, and year-on-year growth will probably moderate due to a high base of Q4 last year,” Goldman Sachs analysts Zhennan Li, Yu Song and MK Tang predict, in a note referred by the financial newspaper Barron’s.
