China gives São Tomé e Principe US$10.9 mln in 2017

The World Bank says China gave grants amounting to US$10.9 million for projects in São Tomé e Principe in 2017, Macauhub reports.

The news website quotes a World Bank document as saying that over a period of five years China is due to give São Tomé e Principe US$38 million for projects in the fields of agriculture, health and energy, and US$146 million for infrastructure projects.

The report says China will also write off the debt of US$28 million São Tomé e Principe owes it.

The World Bank announced last week that it will provide US$15 million in funding for two projects in São Tomé e Principe, Macauhub says.
