China has helped diversify African investment landscape: think tank

Chinese investment has helped diversify Africa’s economic landscape, an African think tank said on Tuesday.

“China’s investment is expanding Africa’s horizon and this is good for Africa as its total stock of investments is increasing,” said Kwame Owino, chief executive of Kenya’s Institute of Economic Affairs, as quoted by Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua.

He noted there was “a positive relationship” between the capital inflows of China into Africa and the growth of incomes on the continent.

“The increasing trade and investment between China and Africa has made China become one of the continent’s biggest trading partners,” he added.
