China Mobile opens office in São Paulo

China Mobile Communications Corp. has opened an office in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, China Radio International reports.

The radio station says the Brazilian arm of China Mobile will endeavour to expand the area where its subscribers can roam, and collaborate with Brazilian telecommunication companies in network interconnection and in developing new information technology.

The report quotes China Mobile Chairman Shang Bing as saying at the opening ceremony: “Brazil has a growing demand for special transnational telecommunication lines services, international data centres, voice and data roaming, among others. This provides telecommunication companies a good opportunity for development and cooperation.”

China Mobile has plans to set itself up in business in four places in Latin America this year, and to invest in submarine cables that will connect North America and South America via Brazil and the United States, China Radio International says.
