China offers support for Angolan police public safety role

China is willing to provide support to Angola’s National Police in the field of public safety, said China’s Ambassador to the African nation, Cui Aimin.

Mr Cui made his remarks this week in the Angolan capital, Luanda, after a meeting with Luanda’s Provincial Governor, Higino Carneiro.

“The issue of public safety is crucial to social development and to the whole country, so, we think China can offer support in training police officers [and providing] equipment,” the Ambassador said, as quoted by Angolan news agency Angop.

The diplomat added that “joint actions to combat crime in Luanda” could also be taken in the future, in order to “improve the investment environment in Angola”.

Mr Cui also said China would promote further “exchange between Angolan and Chinese provinces”, according to Angop.
