China opens visa office in Lisbon

China has opened a visa office in Lisbon to serve the increasing number of Portuguese wishing to visit China, Chinese government-run news agency Xinhua reports.

Xinhua quotes Zhang Lingjie, Vice-president of Chinese state-owned firm China International Travel Service Co. Ltd, as saying at the opening ceremony that the office was the result of more and more frequent Sino-Portuguese exchanges. China International Travel Service will run the visa office.

The report also quotes a Chinese diplomat in Lisbon, Xu Zhida, as saying the advent of the office is an important achievement in the development of the Sino-Portuguese relationship.

Sino-Portuguese exchanges of tourists and investment have grown, Xinhua quotes a Portuguese Foreign Ministry official, Paulo Pocinho, as saying.
