China Railway Construction Corp mulls soybean railway in Brazil

China Railway Construction Corp. Ltd is considering leading a consortium that would build a railway from the Brazilian interior to the port of Ilhéus in Bahia, Folha de S. Paulo reports.

The Brazilian newspaper says representatives of the company presented its proposal for the railway to Brazilian President Michel Temer when he visited China in August.

The report says the railway would be 1,500 kilometres long and transport soybean.

Soybean is the second-most valuable Brazilian export to China after iron ore, the newspaper says.
