China the second-biggest source of Mozambican imports in Q1

Official data indicate that China was the second-biggest source of merchandise imported by Mozambique in the first quarter of this year, after South Africa, O País reports.

The Mozambican newspaper, citing figures compiled by the Mozambican National Institute of Statistics, says notable goods imported from China include mobile phones, rice and tyres.

The report says China was the third-biggest market for Mozambican exports in the first quarter, after India and South Africa.

The value of first-quarter imports was US$1.5 billion this year, 6 percent more than last year, and the value of first-quarter exports rose by 19.7 percent to US$1.1 billion.
