China to help bring satellite TV to rural Mozambique

The Chinese and Mozambican governments will start on Sunday a project to bring satellite television broadcasts of news and entertainment to 500 rural villages in Mozambique, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes the Mozambican Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Vocational Education as saying the project will begin in the province of Maputo.

Mozambique will be the first of the Portuguese-speaking Countries to benefit from a Chinese scheme to bring satellite television broadcasts to 10,000 villages in 25 African countries, Lusa says.
