Chinese advisers are helping farmers in Mopeia, in the Mozambican province of Zambezia, to increase their output of rice, Rádio Moçambique reports.
The state-run broadcaster says the Chinese advisers are teaching over 40 farmers new techniques for improving their rice yields.
The report says the 200 or more famers that till irrigated land in Paz and Limane in Mopeia hope Chinese expertise can help them double their average yield of rice per hectare to eight tonnes.
The authorities in Mopeia hope the next harvest will reap 26,000 tonnes, 4 per cent more than the harvest a year earlier, Rádio Moçambique says.
