Chinese, Brazilian officials hold tech talks

Senior officials of both countries attended the third China-Brazil High-Level Technology and Innovation Dialogue, held in Brazil, the Chinese Embassy in Brasilia says.

The Embassy issued a written statement saying that among the Chinese officials attending were Vice-Minister of Science and Technology Li Meng and Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Yang Wanming.

The statement quotes Mr Yang as saying the meeting reached agreement on Sino-Brazilian cooperation in space technology, information technology, new energy, agricultural technology and science in general.

He said China and Brazil might consider cooperating in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, fifth-generation telecommunications, building of smart cities and biotechnology.

Cooperation in technology and innovation may be the catalyst for the dawn of a new age for the Sino-Brazilian partnership, the Chinese Embassy quotes Mr Yang as saying.
