Chinese-built agro-industrial complex takes shape in Angola

An executive of state-owned China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd has said the agro-industrial complex his company is building in the northern Angolan district of Cuimba should be ready by August, Jornal de Angola reports.

The Angolan newspaper quotes the executive, He Cheng, as saying the construction work employs about 200 Angolans.

The report says the complex will have facilities for growing and storing maize and soybean, and then turning them into animal feed at the rate of 10 tonnes an hour.

Some of the feed will be fed to 50,000 chickens, which are expected to lay 13 million eggs a year.

The complex will also have a slaughterhouse, Jornal de Angola says.
