Chinese carmaker to build factory in Goianésia, Brazil

Chinese car manufacturer Zotye Auto is planning to build a factory in Goianésia, in the Brazilian state of Goiás, online news portal Macauhub reported, quoting the Brazilian press.

The Chinese company – a subsidiary of China’s Zotye Holding Group – has signed an investment contract with the Goiás state government, according to the report.

The media outlet said Zotye Auto would use the Goianésia factory to manufacture cars with conventional engines and ones using electric power.

The Chinese company entered the Brazilian market in 2014, and has since negotiated business partnerships there, Macauhub reported. The firm has not yet sold any cars in Brazil, the news portal added.

Zotye Auto was established in 2005. It is based in the Chinese province of Zhejiang.
