Chinese company building HQ for São Tomé e Príncipe cabbies

Chinese building contractor Top International Engineering Corp. has started construction of a headquarters for the São Tomé e Príncipe Taxi Drivers Association, STP-Press reports.

The São Tomé e Príncipe news agency says Parliamentary Affairs Minister Afonso Varela, Finance Minister Américo Ramos and Employment and Social Affairs Minister Emílio Lima attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Mr Lima said construction of the US$40,000 HQ should be finished in 45 days.

Given their essential role in the tourism business, it is necessary for taxi drivers to be organised, STP-Press quotes Mr Lima as saying.
