Chinese company to buy graphite mined in Mozambique

Triton Minerals Ltd says it has agreed to sell graphite from its Ancuabe mine in Mozambique to a Chinese distributor, Qingdao Tianshengda Graphite Co. Ltd.

Triton Minerals issued a written statement saying Qingdao Tianshengda Graphite has agreed to buy up to 16,000 tonnes a year of graphite in the first five years of the life of the mine, and that the agreement may be extended for a further five years.

The mining company is endeavouring to start producing graphite from Ancuabe in the second half of next year, the statement quotes Triton Managing Director Peter Canterbury as saying.

Separately, a note by securities broker Argonaut Ltd says Triton Minerals had already agreed to sell another 16,000 tonnes a year of Ancuabe graphite to another Chinese company, QingDao Haida Graphite Co. Ltd.
