Chinese contractor starts on youth centre in northern Angola

State-owned China CAMC Engineering Co. Ltd has started work on a US$34 million youth centre it is building in the northern Angolan city of Malanje, Angop reports.

The Angolan state-run news agency says the development will comprise 14 buildings on a site covering 5,000 square metres of the Voanvala district of the city, together containing a 60-seat auditorium, a library, four 32-seat classrooms, offices, an infirmary and a 16-bed dormitory. The complex will also have sports fields and a swimming pool.

The report says the building work is due to last 18 months.

The complex will accommodate young people that come from round about to take occupational or academic courses, Angop quotes Malanje Governor Norberto dos Santos as saying at the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday.
