Chinese Ambassador to Cabo Verde Du Xiaocong has turned over a batch of school supplies to a primary school in one of the poorest parts of São Domingos, on the Cabo Verde island of Santiago, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Du as saying he is impressed by the commitment and determination shown by the teachers at the Praia Baixo primary school in educating their pupils, even though the school lacks the usual basics.
Mr Du said he would visit other schools in São Domingos to see how his embassy might help ease the difficulties they have.
A Cabo Verde education official, Sofia Figueiredo, thanked the ambassador for the commitment of his embassy to education in Cabo Verde, Xinhua says.
