Chinese firm to improve Angolan airport

A subsidiary of state-owned China Railway Construction Corporation has been awarded a contract to expand Kuito Airport, in the central province of Bié, in Angola. So said the African nation’s National Enterprise for the Operations of Airports and Air Traffic Control (ENANA).

The works undertaken by China Railway 20th Bureau Group include a passenger terminal, the operations building and control tower, online media Macauhub quoted this week ENANA as saying in a statement. The Chinese firm would also upgrade the cargo terminal, car park, power station and access to the airport, it said.

Work is expected to start within the next 12 months, the report added.
