Chinese hospital ship medical staff treat Angolan patients

Thousands of Angolans have sought medical attention on board a Chinese navy hospital ship that called at Luanda, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency says the call the ship made at Luanda last week was part of a Chinese humanitarian mission in Africa.

The report says 5,530 Angolans went aboard for medical consultations or surgery given free of charge.

The medical staff of the ship also took part in exchanges with their counterparts in the General Hospital of Luanda, the Angolan Navy Hospital and the Confucius Institute of Agostinho Neto University.

The ship is later due to call at ports in Mozambique and Tanzania.
