Chinese inspectors to check Brazilian meatpacking plants

The Brazilian Agriculture Ministry says the Chinese authorities will this month send teams to inspect 84 Brazilian meatpacking plants with a view to allowing the plants to export meat to China, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes a written statement issued by the ministry as saying it expects “a good part” of the plants inspected to get permission to export to China.

The report says Brazilian Agriculture Minister Blairo Maggi is visiting China, where he met Chinese Commerce Minister Zhong Shan.

Mr Maggi’s party also had a meeting with China National Cereals, Oils and Foodstuffs Corp. Chairman Zhao Shuanglian, Reuters says.
