São Tomé e Príncipe and Chinese officials have inaugurated a programme of rehabilitation of roads and sewerage systems in São Tomé e Príncipe, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes São Tomé Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada as saying the programme is a part of an infrastructure drive, to which China will contribute US$146 million between now and 2022.
The report says the plan is to rehabilitate 20 km of roads in the districts of Água Grande e Mé Zóchi, and the sewerage networks in the districts of Gonga and Sam Guembú, where malaria is rife.
Top International Engineering Corp. of China will do the work, and intends to take a year or less to do it, Lusa says.
