State-run Moçambique Telecom SA (TMCEL) says it has secured Chinese money to set up a fourth-generation wireless telecommunications network by November 30, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency, citing a written statement issued by TMCEL, says the 4G network is part of a project by the company to increase its wireless telecommunications coverage and data transmission speed.
The report says the 4G network will at first cover only Mozambican capital Maputo, the neighbouring city of Matola and the nearby district of Marracuene.
Mozambican Transport and Communications Minister Carlos Mesquita has disclosed that Chinese government money is available to expand the 4G network countrywide in due course, Lusa quotes TMCEL as saying.
