Chinese October imports of Brazilian soybeans double

China imported last month nearly twice the amount of Brazilian soybeans it imported a year earlier as China and the United States kept up their trade row, Reuters reports.

The news agency says Chinese official data indicate China imported 6.53 million tonnes of Brazilian soybeans last month, having imported 3.38 million tonnes a year earlier.

The data indicate that over 94 percent of Chinese imports of soybeans last month came from Brazil.

The report says China imported 6.92 million tonnes of soybeans last month, having imported 7.59 million tonnes the month before, and attributes the decrease to the ample size of Chinese stockpiles.

China imported 66,955 tonnes of soybeans from the United States last month, having imported 1.33 million tonnes a year earlier, Reuters says.
