Chinese road project in Mozambique due to finish early

Mozambican Vice-minister of Public Works Victor Tauacale has said the improvement and surfacing of a road in the northern Mozambican province of Nampula should be finished before the scheduled date, which is August next year, O País reports.

The Mozambican newspaper quotes Mr Tauacale as saying after inspecting the work that he has confidence in the Chinese state-owned contractor, China Henan International Cooperation Group Co Ltd.

Mr Tauacale said the company was now completing the improvement of the stretch of the road in the provincial capital, work which entailed shifting water and power infrastructure.

The contractor will next improve the bridges the road crosses between the provincial capital and the town of Nametil, 72 km away, work which entails building a new bridge over the River Muhala, O País quotes Mr Tauacale as saying.
