Chinese visitors to the Azores discuss co-operation in science

A delegation sent by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences has visited the Portuguese island region of the Azores to discuss Sino-Portuguese co-operation in the field of science, Açoriano Oriental reports.

The Portuguese regional newspaper says China is interested in linking the Atlantic International Research Centre that Portugal intends to build in the Azores with the Chinese Green Silk Road project.

The report quotes an official of the Azores regional government, Gui Menezes, as saying the Chinese visitors also discussed the possibility of Sino-Portuguese co-operation in deep-sea research and aquaculture.

Azores has little experience of aquaculture, and could learn more about it from China, Açoriano Oriental quotes Mr Menezes as saying.
