Consumer confidence in Brazil reaches its highest level since 2014: survey

Confidence among Brazilian consumers increased this month and is now at its highest since December 2014, Brasil reports.

The Brazilian news agency reported that the Consumer Confidence Index reached 85.3 points on a scale from zero to 200.

The report says there is a heightened confidence about the future. The Expectations Index currently stands at 95.7 points which is the highest monthly value since February 2014.

The data is provided by the Fundação Getulio Vargas. Another study released earlier this week by the higher education institution showed business confidence is currently at its highest point in almost three years.

The Brazilian economy contracted by 3.6 percent last year. It was the country’s second consecutive year of recession.
