Documentary on Sino-Angolan tiaes to premiere in Luanda

A documentary entitled From the Other Side of the World, about links now and in the past between Angola and China, will have its premiere tomorrow in Luanda, the producer says.

The producer, Geração 80 Produções, issued a written statement saying the 52-minute film, directed by Angolan Rui Sérgio Afonso, focuses on two cross-cultural personal relationships.

In one case, an Angolan woman, Paulina, meets Johnny, a Chinese who is in Angola to help build a road. Yet the road is never finished, and Johnny goes back to China, leaving Paulina with two children.

In the other case, a Chinese woman, Sofia, comes to Angola with her husband, Inácio, an Angolan student. Having left their son behind in China, she tries to adjust to a new culture and a new name.

From the Other Side of the World was shot in 2016, after the script won a competition backed by the Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
