Envoy advocates Chinese investment in three fields in Portugal

Chinese Ambassador to Portugal Cai Run has told Chinese businesspeople that electric vehicles, infrastructure and Chinese traditional medicine offer them opportunities to do business in Portugal, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) says.

IPIM issued a written statement quoting Mr Cai as saying so in a meeting in Portugal with a visiting party of businesspeople from the Pan-Pearl River Delta region of China.

Mr Cai said Portugal attached importance to the development of its electric vehicle industry, which presented opportunities for Sino-Portuguese co-operation.

He said the railway and road networks in Portugal needed improvement or expansion, presenting further opportunities.

And Chinese enterprises should consider using the ready supply of idle farmland in Portugal for growing herbs used in Chinese traditional medicine, IPIM quotes the ambassador as saying.
