Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Xiao Jianguo thinks greater Sino-Timor-Leste co-operation in advancing the Chinese Belt and Road scheme offers enormous opportunities, the Chinese Embassy in Dili says.
The embassy issued a written statement quoting Mr Xiao as telling the guests at a reception to mark his being posted to Dili that China and Timor-Leste have increased their mutual trust in political matters, engaged each other comprehensively in economic and cultural affairs, and co-operated in improving Timor Leste infrastructure, education and healthcare.
The ambassador said the Sino-Timor-Leste relationship is a good example of what a relationship between a big country and a small country should be.
Mr Xiao expressed hope for further enhancement of the Sino-Timor-Leste relationship, including the friendship between the peoples of China and Timor-Leste, the Chinese Embassy says.
