An exhibition of photographs marking 40 years since China began opening up its economy to the world outside has opened in the Cabo Verde capital, Praia, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese government-run news agency says the Chinese Embassy in Praia arranged the exhibition of 66 photographs illustrating the changes in China since 1978. The exhibition will close in Praia after one week and then tour the rest of the country.
The report quotes Chinese Ambassador to Cabo Verde Du Xiaocong as saying the process of opening up China and the development of Sino-Cabo Verde relations were contemporaneous, and that their cooperation has allowed China and Cabo Verde to make progress in various fields.
Cabo Verde National Assembly President Jorge Santos said the opening-up of China had benefited Sino-Cabo Verde relations, and expressed gratitude for Chinese support for the economic and social development his country, according to Xinhua.
