FDI into Mainland China increases by 9.2 pct last month

Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Mainland China increased to 58.6 billion yuan (US$8.49 billion) in February, an increase of 9.2 percent in year-on-year terms, Xinhua reports.

The government-run news agency quotes a Ministry of Commerce statement showing total FDI in the first two months of this year reached 138.7 billion yuan, down by 2.3 percent from the same stage last year.

Xinhua also cited official data showing that a total of 1,850 new foreign-funded companies were established last month in Mainland China, representing a 33.3-percent year-on-year increase.
