The Government of Macao has announced the opening there of a festival of the arts and culture of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, the second of its kind.
The Cultural Affairs Bureau issued a written statement saying the festival comprises an international book fair, a concert of Portuguese Fado and the Macao Chinese Orchestra, a film festival, an art exhibition, a performance of traditional music and dance, and an exhibition of archives relating to the resumption of Chinese rule in Macao in 1999.
The announcement says the arts and culture of Mainland China and eight Portuguese-speaking countries will be represented.
In holding the festival, Macao is performing its function as a meeting point for the cultures of China and the lusophone world, the government announcement says.
