First batch of Mozambican civil servants receives training in China

The first batch of Mozambican civil servants arrived in China last week to receive two weeks of professional training, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

The 10 workers from Mozambique’s Ministry of Labour and Social Security are being trained in business management and telecommunications, as well as being familiarised with China, the report said.

The project is under a memorandum of understanding signed in September between the Mozambican ministry and the Chinese information technology and communications firm Huawei.

Mozambique’s Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Vitória Diogo, said in a ceremony last week – as quoted by Xinhua – the training offered to the Mozambican workers was a “unique opportunity” to acquire useful knowledge and experience.

Under the deal, Huawei is to provide 20 scholarships for public sector workers of the African nation, while 120 Mozambican university students would also be sent to China on exchange visits over the next two years, according to Xinhua.
