Representatives of food producers in Macao and countries where Portuguese is spoken have visited the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu to promote their merchandise, the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) says.
IPIM issued a written statement saying the visitors were in Chengdu from 10 August to 13.
They exhibited to the public examples of the food they produce, showed how to make Portuguese-style appetisers, offered wine for tasting, auctioned some of their merchandise, arranged games and put on performances of music from the Portuguese-speaking Countries.
IPIM says the visitors got their message across to over 20,000 people.
The visitors also made contact with over 100 buyers, who negotiated and struck deals.
A similar promotional expedition, to the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou, will be mounted soon, IPIM says.
