Govt hopes to draw 90,000 Chinese tourists a year to Brazil

The Brazilian Tourism Ministry hopes Chinese tourists will be visiting Brazil at the rate of 90,000 each year by 2022, The Rio Times reports.

The Brazilian newspaper, which is published in English, says official data indicate that 61,000 Chinese tourists visited last year, 6 percent more than the year before.

The report says the ministry bases its hope on new visa arrangements, instituted in October, which make it easier for Chinese to visit Brazil.

Chinese may now obtain multiple-entry visas, valid for five years, for 90-day stays which may be extended for another 90 days each time, The Rio Times says.
