Guinea Bissau is looking for help from China to promote youth entrepreneurship, as young people in the African country have difficulty in finding jobs, Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported.
Filinto Omar Martins Salla, President of the National Youth Institute under Guinea Bissau’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Youth and Sports, said: “All this is still at the planning stage and the National Youth Institute seeks partners to set up this project.”
“We especially need the support of China to promote youth entrepreneurship in areas like… poultry and fish farming,” he said. “We have the natural conditions allowing us to develop these kinds of economic activities and the young people also have the will,” he added.
CCTV reported the unemployment rate in the African nation is approximately 30 percent currently. The Guinea Bissau Government remains the biggest employer of young people but jobs in the private sector for the young were “almost non-existent,” CCTV added.
