Huawei 5G technology passes tests by telcos in Brazil

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd of China says the four main wireless telecommunications companies in Brazil have tested its fifth-generation (5G) technology, and that it expects to lead the introduction of 5G networks there, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes Huawei Technology Director Nicolas Driesen as saying so in an interview.

Mr Driesen said his company was helping the main carriers in Brazil to modernise their infrastructure before an auction of radio spectrum next March.

The report says the Brazilian regulator has designated the 2.3 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequencies as the frequencies for 5G networks.

A long-awaited change in the law governing the setting-up of cell sites will help the introduction of 5G technology in Brazil, Reuters quotes Mr Driesen as saying.
