Huawei gives US$100,000 to complete Mozambique school

Chinese company Huawei Technologies has donated US$100,000 to Mozambique’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher and Professional Education to help finish the building of a school in the African country, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua said.

The donation would be used to complete the building of the Muanza professional school, in the province of Sofala. The project is part of the nation’s Professional Education Reform Programme, according to Mozambique’s Minister of Science, Technology and Higher and Professional Education, Jorge Nhambiu.

The Minister said – as quoted by Xinhua – the reform programme was designed to reduce youth unemployment in the country.

Mr Nhambiu and the Chinese Ambassador to Mozambique, Su Jian, signed the agreement regarding the donation for the school.

According to Xinhua, Mr Su said the support offered by Huawei Technologies showed how solid was the friendship and co-operation between China and Mozambique.

Huawei Technologies has supported a number of projects in Mozambique, especially in the fields of education and technology, the diplomat noted.
