Hunan Dakang eyes Brazilian beef butchery business

Hunan Dakang International Food and Agriculture Co. Ltd of China intends to enter the beef butchery business in Brazil, Reuters reports.

The news agency quotes Hunan Dakang Chairman Ge Junjie as saying in an interview that his company means to acquire slaughterhouses that have permission to export meat to China.

The report says Hunan Dakang recently bought controlling stakes in two Brazilian grain companies: Fiagril Ltda last year and Belagr]icola Comércio e Representações de Produtos Agrícolas SA this year.

Mr Ge said these companies handled about 10 million tonnes of Brazilian grain each year.

Hunan Dakang will concentrate on exporting the grain to China, and on importing Chinese pesticides and other agricultural inputs to Brazil, Reuters says.
