IMF official says Angolan economic recovery to begin in 2019

A representative of the International Monetary Fund, Max Alier, has said action taken by the government means the Angolan economy will begin to recover from its slump next year, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency quotes Mr Alier as saying in Luanda that although the outlook for Sub-Saharan Africa as a whole remains good, the region is still subject to threats posed by global economic ill-health and the Sino-US trade dispute.

The latest IMF report on the outlook for Sub-Saharan Africa forecasts that the economy there will grow by 3.1 percent this year and 4 percent next year, and remarks that inflation rates have been slowing in many countries in the region, Angop says.
